Hand dyed Cotton Fabric
this workshop will be offered
Friday 2pm – 5pm
Move out of the fabric shop and into the dye studio to create truly one of a kind fabric for your next project. Students will have the opportunity to dye 2 fat quarters of cotton fabric in the color scheme they choose. Make your own color fabric instead of getting just another bolt of cloth from the store. This will be a dynamic learning experience for all skill levels.
All the materials will be provided, to include cotton fabric, dyes, and handout.
Students should bring a pen to take notes.
Anne Giuliano wandered far afield in her artistic journey over the years. She has made fabric with batik techniques and hand dyeing. It was in the fiber arts that she found most of her early recognition and satisfaction. Anne became a fiber artist, creating with weaving, spinning, dyeing and knitting. Many of her pieces were recognized at shows and exhibitions around the state – Montana Weavers and Spinners conventions, MT State Fairs in Billings and Great Falls. Anne is a member of Prairie Hand Spinners Guild.
Advanced Drop Spindle Plying
Saturday 2pm – 5pm
This is a different take on more traditional method of storing singles as you spin them on your drop spindle, and needing to ply from multiple spindles.
It is important to keep singles under tension during the entire process of spinning and plying. The technique you will learn not only teaches you how to do this, but also allows you to make larger skeins.
You will walk away from this workshop astounded with your new skills and the end results.
The instructor will supply fiber for use during class, tools for plying plus a handout.
Students should bring a spindle they are comfortable spinning with, plus be able to spin a continuous single.
