Many Techniques within a Nuno Shibori Felted Scarf

Saturday and Sunday

June 10th and 11th

$190.00 for 2 days including all materials

In this 2 day workshop you will learn to approach the art of creating a silk and wool nuno felted scarf from the perspective of a Textile Designer. Whether I create a sample or a finished scarf, I am always asking “How can I create an Interesting and Fabulous Fabric”?

We will work with my hand dyed and carded luxury fiber batts, which consist of silk, kid mohair, ultra fine wool and cashmere, as well as different types of hand dyed silks to create our nuno scarves.

On Day 1: We will explore the exciting processes of working with color, fabric manipulation, “lace effect” with holes, and the addition of nuno dreads in creating our base scarf.

On Day 2 we will explore shibori over-dye techniques to create an additional layer of color as well as thermal shaping of the scarf.

This is a class for Intermediate/Advanced Felters.

Melissa has spent the last 12 years as a Professional Textile Designer, collaborating with Fashion Designer Catherine Bacon.
